Immunizations are an important part of public health, and Texas law requires students in Texas schools to be immunized against certain vaccine-preventable diseases.
Be aware that students entering the 7th grade have additional vaccine requirements that were added in 2009:
- 1 dose of Meningococcal vaccine
- a 2nd dose of Varicella vaccine
- a booster dose of a tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis-containing vaccine (Tdap) if at least 5 years have passed since the last dose of a tetanus-containing vaccine
