Exploratory Music Lesson Plans

November 21st- December 2nd

 

Exploratory students have rotated from Music to Drama, from Drama to Art, and from Art to Music. They are in the 3rd week of the new rotation.

 

Objectives:

1.     The student will be able to create the musical staff on paper.

2.     The student will be able to identify lines and spaces on a musical staff.

      These include EGBDF & FACE on the treble clef.

3.     The student will be able to create musical notes ranging from sixteenth, eighth, quarter, half, dotted half and whole notes as well as recognize their equivalent rests.

4.     The student will play “music bingo” to assess their knowledge on basic music theory learned in week 1 and week 2.

5.     The student will be able to create notes on the treble clef staff spelling out basic words in the musical alphabet.

6.     The student will be assessed on their knowledge of all the notes learned as well as the treble clef staff.

West Briar Choir Lesson Plans

Choirs: Beginning Girls Choir, Girls Concert Choir, Select Singers, Boys Concert Choir and WBME

2nd period- Something Told the Wild Geese, Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, I'll be Home for Christmas, & Jingle Bell Rock

 

3rd period- In the Bleak Midwinter, Carol of the Bells, I'll be Home for Christmas, & Jingle Bell Rock

 

5th & 6th periods- On this Still, Silent Night , We're in a Holiday Mood, I'll be Home for Christmas, & Jingle Bell Rock

 

 

Objectives:

1.      The student will continue literature for their Winter Choir Concert.

2.      The student will continue selling for the cookie dough fundraiser on 11/14. All forms and money are due on 11/28.

3.      The student will be able to demonstrate proper singing poster.

4.      The student will be able to demonstrate proper vocal warm-ups

5.      The student will be able to demonstrate proper breathing techniques.

6.      The student will begin to demonstrate proper usage of hand-signs (solfege) while singing.

7.      The student will be able to write in specific solfege pitches and rhythm in their music.

8.      The student will evaluate their sectional performance as well as group perform throughout each rehearsal.
