Exploratory Music Lesson Plans

December 5th- December 16th

 

 

Objectives:

1.     The student will be able to create the musical staff on paper.

 

2.  The student will be able to identify lines and spaces on both the       

      treble and bass clef staff; these include EGBDF & FACE on the     

      treble clef and GBDFA & ACEG on the bass clef.

 

3.   The student will write and spell musical words as they compare 

      and contrast the bass and treble clef lines and spaces.

 

4.   The student will begin to identify the correct elements of posture

      while singing and warming up their voices.

 

5.   The student will learn solfege hand-signs and  how to sing a scale,

      " do re mi fa sol la ti do;" we will focus on vocal warm-ups.

 

6.   The student will sing patriotic melodies and conduct in 3/4 and 4/4

      time signature.

 

7.   The student will continue to review musical notes and rests as they      

      write and perform

West Briar Choir Lesson Plans

Choirs: Beginning Girls Choir, Girls Concert Choir, Select Singers, Boys Concert Choir and WBME

2nd period- Something Told the Wild Geese, Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, I'll be Home for Christmas, & Jingle Bell Rock

 

3rd period- In the Bleak Midwinter, Carol of the Bells, I'll be Home for Christmas, & Jingle Bell Rock

 

5th & 6th periods- On this Still, Silent Night , We're in a Holiday Mood, I'll be Home for Christmas, & Jingle Bell Rock

 

Objectives:

1.      The student will perform their prepared literature at the Winter Choir Concert 12/6. The concert will be at WHS at 6:45 pm.

2.      The student will evaluate their winter concert performance by completing a class discussion as well as watching a video of the concert; students will complete a written assessment after reviewing their performance.

3.      The student will begin working on solo selections as we complete the semester. Solo contest will be at the end of January.

4.      The student will be able to demonstrate proper singing poster.

5.      The student will be able to demonstrate proper vocal warm-ups

6.      The student will be able to demonstrate proper breathing techniques.

7.      The student will begin to demonstrate proper usage of hand-signs (solfege) while singing.

8.      The student will be able to write in specific solfege pitches and rhythm in their music.

9.      The student will evaluate their sectional performance as well as group perform throughout each rehearsal.
