Grade 6 The student
will differentiate between elements and compounds. Grade 7 The student
will identify compounds and investigate how large molecules are broken down
for use by the body. Grade 8 The students
will describe the structure of atoms and explore and identify properties used
to interpret the arrangement of the elements which make up the Periodic
Table. |
Grade 6 The
student should know how to perform an experimental investigation by making
observations. The student will also be
successful testing their hypotheses. Grade 7 The
student will be monitored to see if they can successfully implement
experimental investigations through observations and high level questioning. Grade 8 Use
models to represent aspects of the natural world such as an atom, a molecule,
space or a geologic feature. |

student will compare metals, nonmetal and
metalloids using physical
properties, and use chemical symbols to classify an element as a pure
substance. Grade 7 The
students will: Identify compounds classified as and investigate how large
molecules are broken down for use by the body. Grade 8 The student will continue to study the structure
of an Atom. |
